ATG’s scoreable, structured interviews consistently predict on-the-job success with exceptional accuracy. We include open-ended questions that are particularly meaningful in their relationship to success in a particular job. When each interview is finished, we are able to compare responses to those that have previously been found to indicate success, allowing us to accurately analyze each candidate’s “fit” for each job—and the likelihood of long-term tenure and success.

Advantages
The traditional job interview is a mainstay of nearly every business. But extensive research has revealed that the typical interview is a very poor predictor of success. ATG’s scoreable, structured interviews, however, have an extremely high correlation with success. These rigorously created and administered interviews are designed to achieve actionable results that lead to better hiring decisions.

Because of their exceptional cost/benefit ratio, they are also ideal for infrequently opening positions or for pre-screening candidates prior to implementing higher-cost employee-selection tools. Designed for either in-person meetings or telecommunication, the interviews can also be scored in less than two minutes.

Design
We create our scoreable, structured interviews based on information provided by those employees most familiar with each job and its performance requirements. ATG gathers this information in two exercises, the Work Profiling and the Critical Incidents Analysis. The first identifies key tasks of the job, while the second identifies desirable behaviors, attitudes, competencies and experiences. We work to uncover underlying themes from both exercises and craft the final interview to reveal the most important attributes of any candidate.

Application
At ATG, we have created scoreable, structured interview formats for the selection of candidates in such diverse roles as:

  • Service positions on a cruise ship
  • Account executives in high-end financial services
  • Patient-services positions in a medical center
  • Franchisee opportunities in an automotive-service franchise
  • Staff members in a workforce-development organization
  • Distributors in a specialty spice company
